Doha Layover Itineraries by Time
Before getting into individual activities, here is a quick framework depending on how long your layover actually is.
- 3–5 hours: Stay landside. Explore Hamad International Airport itself — it is genuinely one of the most interesting airports on earth. Visit the indoor rainforest at The Orchard, grab food, see the art installations, and use the rest zones.
- 5–8 hours: Head into the city. Take the metro (25 minutes, very affordable) straight to the Souq Waqif, walk to MIA Park for the harbour views, grab lunch or dinner at the souk, and head back. Comfortable, no rushing.
- 8–14 hours: Add the Corniche walk or Katara Cultural Village to your souk and MIA loop. If your layover is overnight, book a hotel near the souk so you wake up in the heart of the action.
- 24 hours or more: You have time for the Pearl, a desert dune bashing tour, the National Museum, and a proper sit-down meal. Qatar at a relaxed pace.
