Health Insurance Is Now Mandatory
Under Law No. 22 of 2021, Qatar fully implemented mandatory health insurance across all industry sectors by 2026. Valid health insurance is now a prerequisite for issuing or renewing any residence permit.
This means your employer must provide you with health insurance. It is not optional. It is not a benefit. It is a legal obligation.
Expats now have secure access to essential healthcare services through approved insurance providers. This reduces out-of-pocket medical expenses and brings greater consistency in healthcare access.
If your employer has not provided health insurance, raise it immediately. They are in violation of the law.
