Ministry of Labour's Role
The Ministry of Labour reviews all transfer requests, ensures compliance with Qatari labour laws, and makes the final decision to approve or reject them. Once the sponsorship transfer is approved, the new employer updates the worker's records with the Ministry of Interior.
Conditions for Changing Employer in Qatar
Worker and Employer Eligibility
- Registered national address must exist for the worker, current employer, and new employer.
- Qatar ID (QID) and mobile number of the worker must be active and correctly linked.
- No active bans or transfer requests should apply to the worker.
- A valid work permit is required.
- New employer must match nationality, gender, and profession. For example, an "Indian male accountant" can only be hired by a company approved to employ that category.
- No restrictions should be placed on the new employer.
