Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a project to provide health care for patients with kidney failure and cancer in Yemen, by supporting Al Shafaqa Foundation for Kidney Failure and Cancer Care in Sana'a.

The projects aims to improve the general and nutritional services provided for 3,000 patients, at a total cost of USD 145,022.

In a statement, Chairperson of Al Shafaqa Foundation Watheq Sultan Al Qurashi, said, "QRCS is helping us to maintain our operation for 10 months, meeting 70 percent of our needs, including food, water, electricity, and fuel supply." "With their support, we can serve three meals per day for patients, cover housing rentals, and secure patient transportation between the center and dialysis facilities," he added.

He indicated that patients with cancer and kidney failure have special nutritional, medical, and psychological needs, as these are lifelong diseases that drain individual, family, and community resources, expressing his thanks to QRCS for its supportive and effective role in providing better psychosocial conditions for the patients and their families.

QRCS has many health projects to support the hospitals and medical facilities that treat patients with cancer and kidney failure, including medications, surgeries, medical examinations, and radiotherapy, in addition to social protection and security, nutrition, training, and other key services.
