QRCS, Syrian Arab Red Crescent Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Damascus

DAMASCUS — Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Society (SARCS) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening humanitarian coordination and expanding joint initiatives in Syria.

The agreement, signed in Damascus, includes the opening of a QRCS representation office in the Syrian capital. The office will give the partnership a stronger operational presence and support closer coordination between the two humanitarian organizations.

QRCS President Yousef Al Khater said the agreement establishes a formal framework for broadening cooperation. He said the Damascus office will help translate the partnership into field activity while building on the longstanding ties between the peoples of Qatar and Syria.

SARCS President Mohamed Hazem Baqleh said the partnership reflects a shared approach focused on sustainable development and early recovery, alongside continued relief for communities facing urgent humanitarian needs.

Future cooperation is expected to include infrastructure rehabilitation, support for the health sector and initiatives aimed at helping families strengthen their economic resilience, while emergency assistance continues.

The agreement brings together immediate relief and longer-term recovery priorities. The new QRCS representation office is intended to provide a dedicated base for coordination with SARCS and for the implementation of future joint programs in Syria.
