The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has initiated a program aimed at aiding individuals in Yemen who are grappling with cancer and malignant tumors.
Working in partnership with the National Centre for Cancer Treatment and specialized medical facilities, the initiative will cover the expenses related to radiation treatments and diagnostic exams for 318 cancer patients. The total cost for this endeavor is $222,202.

Dr. Mohammed Matar Juhaf, Head of the Republican Educational Hospital in the capital, expressed his welcome to the Qatar Red Crescent for its involvement with the General Republican Hospital. He emphasized the hospital's commitment to addressing the requirements of cancer patients through collaborative efforts with both the National Centre for Cancer Treatment and the Qatar Red Crescent. This collaboration is perceived as a valuable contribution that is anticipated to yield further significant advancements. The partnership with Qatar Red Crescent is highly valued, and discussions are ongoing for upcoming joint projects.

Likewise, Dr. Abdullah Dahan Thawabah, the Director-General of the National Centre for Cancer Treatment in the capital, affirmed that this endeavor represents a pioneering project, marking the introduction of a comprehensive service that offers complimentary diagnostic services such as CT scans and MRI. The concept behind the initiative is commendable and serves as motivation to explore holistic solutions for cancer patients in coordination with Qatar Red Crescent. This collaboration has produced positive outcomes, benefiting patients, medical practitioners, and the center at large.

Thawabah went on to mention that Qatar Red Crescent has continued its support by extending its efforts to cover radiation therapy for cancer patients. This builds upon a previous project carried out in 2022, which demonstrated significant efficacy in alleviating patients' suffering and alleviating the financial burden they face, given the challenging circumstances within the country during this period.

Today, cancer patients can receive treatment without any cost. We deeply appreciate Qatar Red Crescent's generous support and hope for its continuous assistance. We will collaborate to ensure these impactful services remain available to our patients.

Notably, the official count of cancer patients in Yemen exceeds 95,000, not including unregistered cases. Due to the limited availability of specialized facilities and support systems, the burdens on patients, families, and the community have grown.

The shortage of specialized facilities and support for cancer care, along with inadequate diagnostic and treatment services, pose significant challenges within Yemen's healthcare.
Qatar Red Crescent aims to ease the hardships faced by cancer patients and improve their access to diagnostic and radiation treatments.
