Unauthorized Price Hikes in Qatar

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has confirmed that businesses in Qatar are prohibited from adjusting the prices of goods or services without prior approval from the ministry.

According to official regulations, violations of this rule can result in serious legal consequences, including imprisonment ranging from one month to one year and financial penalties of up to QAR 1,000,000.

The ministry further emphasized that repeated violations may lead to the temporary closure of establishments and the imposition of double penalties. Commercial outlets are urged to comply strictly with the law to avoid legal accountability and ensure fair market practices.

Consumers have been encouraged to report any unauthorized price changes directly to the authorities. The ministry reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and maintaining transparency in the marketplace.
