Qatar and Republic of Naoero Sign Agreement to Establish Diplomatic Relations

New York, September 16, 2026 :The State of Qatar and the Republic of Naoero signed an agreement on Wednesday to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries at the headquarters of Qatar’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Qatar by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, while HE Permanent Representative of the Republic of Naoero to the United Nations Lara Erab Daniel signed on behalf of Naoero.

The two sides affirmed their shared commitment to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening friendship and cooperation between Qatar and Naoero.

They also expressed their intention to develop bilateral relations in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly those concerning the promotion of international peace and security, equality among states, and full respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
