Qatar's aviation sector experienced significant growth in December 2023, according to the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).
Flight movements increased by 3.2%, with 23,589 registered movements. Air passenger numbers saw a notable rise of 19.7%, totaling 4.3 million individuals arriving in the country during the month. Additionally, air cargo and mail increased by 18.6%, reaching 216,431 tonnes.
The positive momentum continued from November 2023, which witnessed a 7% increase in flight movements and a 23.2% rise in passenger numbers. Throughout 2023, Qatar's aviation sector demonstrated substantial growth, making the country a global hub for travelers.
The expansion of Hamad International Airport, with state-of-the-art facilities, attracted 44 new airlines, contributing to the country's connectivity. The QCAA anticipates continued growth in traveler numbers, with nearly 45 million visitors welcomed in 2023, reflecting a 26% increase from 2022.
These developments are viewed as positive signs of economic revival, strengthening Qatar's position as a tourist hub connecting the world.
