Qatar schools reopen safely, welcoming 417,000 students

Schools across Qatar officially reopened on Sunday, March 29, 2026, welcoming nearly 417,000 students back to classrooms in a safe and well‑prepared environment.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education confirmed that all preparations were completed to ensure a smooth and stable return across both public and private schools.

Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi, Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department, stated that the resumption of in‑person learning was the result of integrated efforts across ministry sectors and continued coordination with national authorities. She emphasized that confidence within the school community has been strengthened, creating the right conditions for students to return smoothly and regularly.

The ministry highlighted comprehensive safety measures, maintenance checks, and readiness of facilities. The Health and Safety Department circulated regulatory guidelines for emergencies and exceptional situations, while workshops trained over 1,200 participants on safety protocols. In addition, 9,686 school leaders, teachers, administrators, and coordinators took part in the “Tirqa 3” training forum to reinforce preparedness.

Schools have been instructed to familiarise students with safety procedures, emergency exits, evacuation routes, and safe assembly points, while monitoring national emergency alerts. Parents were advised to ensure children leave home on time, wait in designated bus areas, and stay updated on school announcements. Students were reminded to follow supervisors’ instructions on buses, adhere strictly to school guidance, and remain in safe areas during emergencies.

Authorities stressed that coordinated efforts between families, schools, and officials are key to ensuring the safety of children and the continuity of learning.
