Ministry of Labor Launches Training Program on VR Technology

The Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO), launched a training program, the first of its kind, based on interactive virtual reality technology for the Ministry's inspectors. The inauguration of this program by the Ministry comes within the framework of the continuous and joint efforts with ILO, to enhance the safety and health of workers in the workplace, and increase the efficiency of the inspectors and their ability to identify risks in the work environment without the need to enter the workplace and be exposed to risks.

According to the program, the inspectors of the Ministry of Labor will be provided with a virtual reality device that will allow them to accurately explore a virtual environment that simulates typical construction sites in Qatar, which will enable them to monitor and correct violations, dangers and highly dangerous behaviors. The training program also allows inspectors to provide better guidance to employers and workers about safety measures at work sites.

The Director of the Labor Inspection Department at the Ministry Hussein Ali Al-Hababi, said that the program comes within the Ministry of Labor's interest in promoting occupational health and safety, and its interest in raising the level of skill of its employees and qualitative diversification in specialized training programs.

For his part, the Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Unit at the Ministry of Labor Zayed Suhail Al Mazroui, said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to the issue of occupational safety and health, indicating that it has developed comprehensive policies, strategies and plans to reduce accidents, injuries and work-related diseases.

The Head of the ILO Project Office in Doha Max Tunon said that they were excited about introducing this technology and adding excitement to the traditional training method, adding that turning the training into a virtual game would offer users new and exciting ways to interact.
