Doha, October 26, 2026 : Qatar has launched the tabletop exercises for the sixth edition of Watan 2026, bringing together military and civilian entities to strengthen national preparedness for incidents, crises and emergencies.
The exercises aim to improve coordination among participating organisations, clarify their respective roles and responsibilities, and enhance the effectiveness of joint response efforts.
Participants will discuss hypothetical scenarios involving potential risks while assessing operational plans, procedures and command, control and communication systems. The sessions are designed to improve response times and strengthen the execution of coordinated tasks during emergencies.
Serving as a preparatory stage for field exercises, the tabletop sessions also allow participating entities to review existing plans, refine procedures and apply lessons learned from previous editions.
The initiative supports Qatar’s wider efforts to reinforce national security, improve emergency response capabilities and safeguard public safety.
