US Senator and Chair of the US Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell praised the great role of the State of Qatar in evacuating Americans, Europeans and refugees from Afghanistan.

In their participation in the opening session of Doha Forum 2022, which kicked off Saturday under the theme "Transforming for a New Era", the officials said that the State of Qatar opened the door wide for the intra-Afghan dialogue, helped with humanitarian aid and social assistance, and contributed to the resumption of operation of Kabul Airport.

On the Ukrainian crisis, the officials underlined the need to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and the suffering it left behind for civilians, and the need to show Russia as a loser so that any country would hesitate before attacking another country.

They warned that the war in Ukraine is not only a European issue, but it concerns the whole world because Russian President Vladimir Putin has imposed by force what he wants and destroyed an entire country, and this means that the whole world is in danger.

The speakers rejected war as a way to resolve disputes, rather multilateral dialogue should be encouraged to resolve differences. They noted the need for caution in dealing with the Ukrainian crisis, with concern for the Ukrainian people and providing them with military support, while making greater efforts to change the world order and prevent the revival of the Cold War.

They also noted the importance of a rapid transition to a green economy and achieving sustainable development goals to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian oil and gas; and to achieve the necessary benefit from a geopolitical perspective, and move the world to a cleaner energy away from fossil fuels.
