The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) reported Monday 110 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 173 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 357,391.

In a statement, the MOPH said that all new cases of infection were within the community, as no cases were recorded among the travelers. The ministry also reported a death of a 77-year-old, who had a history of chronic diseases and was receiving the necessary medical care.

The MOPH reported 6,481,249 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 5,135 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. The ministry added that 1,345,505 COVID-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date, explaining that 88.3 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses.

In a statement, MOPH noted that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with COVID-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.

It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease, noting that the support of the community in adhering to the government restrictions and COVID-19 precautions, in addition to the high vaccination rate, have played a significant role in reaching this stage and stabilize the number of new daily cases.

The MOPH called for caution and continued adherence to restrictions and precautionary and preventive measures, and to contact 16000 helpline immediately if anyone suffering from COVID-19 symptoms, as early detection of the disease makes it easier to obtain appropriate treatment and increases the recovery chances.
