The Qatari beach volleyball team, consisting of the duo Ahmed Tejan and Sherif Younis, won the title of the world tour hosted by the Maldives, after defeating its American counterpart by two clean sets in the final, 20/15 and 20/17.

The tournament witnessed the participation of the best 16-ranked teams, which is one of the world tours organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The Qatari national team showed great levels during its career in the tournament and reached the final match after beating Sweden with two strokes versus one stroke.

President of Qatar and West Asian Volleyball Association, Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari expressed his pleasure with the new achievement of the Qatari team, praising the levels presented by the team throughout his career and during the matches played.

Al Kuwari indicated that winning the world tour title in the Maldives will enhance the teams global ranking, in addition to increasing its chances of qualification for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The Qatari national team is expected to compete in the 2022 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, hosted by Dubai during the period from 22 to 30 October, followed by the participation in the World Volleyball Beach Pro Tour Future, with a team consisting of Saif Al Majid, Mahmoud Essam, Abdullah Naseem, and Mohamed Ihab, and hosted by the Omani state of Sohar during the period from 1 to 4 November, with the participation of 28 teams representing 15 countries.

The Qatari team, which won the bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has achieved many outstanding results in recent years, led by the distinguished duo Sherif Younis and Ahmad Tejan; while everyone was impressed by the levels they displayed, which helped the squad rise to the top of the global rankings.
