Qatar 9th International Agricultural Exhibition

Qatars 9th International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and Qatar's 3rd International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ), which were organized over five days by the Ministries of Municipality and Environment, with the aim of supporting agricultural development project, food security, achieving sufficiency and promoting Environmental protection in Qatar, was concluded today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center

The organization of the two exhibitions came within the framework of the states plan for food security, which includes the establishment of international exhibitions, which are a forum for farmers, producers, interested persons , production companies and consumers, as well as within the framework of the states great interest in the issue of environmental sustainability, at a time when the agricultural and environmental sectors are witnessing a wide development and great interest from the state according to achieving sufficiency and promoting Environmental protection in Qatar in accordance with multiple successful development plans and strategies.

The exhibition activities of the two exhibitions featured a remarkable turnout and great success, in terms of organization, extensive local, regional and international participation, and a diversity of agricultural, animal, fish and environmental products, and other accompanying activities, conferences and specialized seminars.

On the closing day, HE the Minister of Municipality Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie and HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani honored the sponsors and the organizing committee.

Head of the exhibitions organizing committee, director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality Engineer Mohammed Ali Al Khoury said the events witnessed the participation of 650 entities and 520 exhibiting companies, 350 of which are international, and 170 local companies, adding that the number of participating countries reached 52, along with 30 national pavilions.

He stressed that the agricultural exhibition will contribute to increasing agricultural and livestock production in the State of Qatar, and thus achieving food self-sufficiency.

For his part, Head of the conference committee accompanying the two exhibitions Dr. Mohammed Saif al-Kuwari said the exhibition succeeded remarkably in attracting a large number of distinguished researchers and scientists in the fields of agriculture and environment, as 56 researchers spoke at the conference, including 40 Qatari specialists.

He stressed that the scientists, researchers and specialists who participated in the accompanying scientific exhibition presented the latest innovations, sciences and researches in the field of developing agriculture and eradicating agricultural pests as well as food security.

Dr. Al Kuwari explained that during the seminars, sciences, knowledge and experiences were exchanged between scientists and attendees, and several scientific agreements were signed.

He referred to a large research project related to the process of monitoring and catching carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and converting it into useful, environmentally friendly materials, to be used in the development of agriculture was announced and presented during the conference.

He said that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University as well as some scientific universities are participating in the project. (QNA)
