The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index opened lower on Thursday, September 17, declining by 14.96 points, or 0.16%, to reach 9,622 points.

The decline was driven by losses across six sectors, according to market data.


Six Sectors Record Losses

The Insurance sector recorded the biggest decline, falling 0.43%.

Other sectors that ended lower at the start of trading were:

Telecoms Sector Gains

The Telecoms sector was the only sector to record a positive performance during the opening session, rising 0.37%.

By 10:00am, trading activity on the QSE reached QR40.644 million in turnover.

A total of 18.798 million shares changed hands through 2,585 transactions, reflecting active trading during the early session.
