Secretary-General of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari affirmed that preparations are afoot to host the FIBA U16 Asian Basketball Championship 2023, which will be held in Qatar from Sept. 17-24.

This came during a press conference held by QBF to sign the partnership agreement with Beyond Sport Company and Elite Motors to jointly sponsor the upcoming Asian championship and FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 as part of QBF's objectives to upgrade this game in Qatar.

According to the aforementioned partnership that extends until 2027, Beyond Sport Company will provide live streaming in real-time for all games organized by QBF, along with other relevant events, in addition to promoting basketball games through all online and offline media while Elite Motors, among other things, will provide transportation and logistical support to QBF.

The agreement comes within the QBFs key objectives and plans aimed at promoting basketball culture, Al Kuwari said, adding that the QBF is poised to organize a plethora of championships during the upcoming period.

He pointed out that Qatari basketball witnessed impressive evolution during the past period prior to hosting the world in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, lauding the tremendous role undertaken by companies and institutions, along with their contributions to supporting QBF's projects aimed at upgrading and propagating this type of game.

After Qatar was ranked third and crowned by FIBA among the advanced federations, QBF would double efforts to maintain its presence on the list of best federations and enhance the pace of work for the success of Qatari basketball, Al Kuwari noted.

In concluding his statements, Al Kuwari revealed that the Asian championship is set to witness the best 16 teams at the Asian level to be qualified for the FIBA U18 Asian Championship, adding that such a hosting will be among a series of championships Qatar will host in the run-up to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.

For his part, CEO of Beyond Sport Company Ahmed Kazwini praised the partnership agreement with QBF which underscores QBF's dedication to expanding basketball sport in Qatar and globally.

Beyond Sport will work in lockstep with QBF to envision a better future for basketball games through developing local contests and building media presence, expanding the fanbase, including the upcoming strategy with Qatar's hosting of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, Kazwini added.

He outlined that there would be live streaming for all championships at the local and external levels with best quality features, replaying, commenting, and live scores & results, in addition to allowing fans to watch all tournaments and establishing a website that includes live updates on results and competitions in all games, as well as supporting the fans with live information.

General manager of Elite Motors Ahmed Al Sebaei said that Elite Motors is committed to ensuring smooth service in promoting basketball games in Qatar during the upcoming period as much as possible, adding that the company will maintain its presence in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 like never before as it had done during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
