Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker has said that oil companies need to step up the process to supply more sustainable aviation fuel.

Addressing the 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organisation (AACO) in Doha on Thursday, Baker, who is also the chairman of the meeting, said there has never been a more critical moment to come together as a unified voice on the path to recovery, as the aviation industry continues to navigate some of the most uncertain market conditions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Baker was speaking at the AACO2021 CEO panel on the need for a more coordinated cross-industry approach to achieve sustainability goals.

Qatar's Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti attended the 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organisation (AACO), which opened in Doha on Wednesday.

The two-day AGM was inaugurated by Baker. Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) Eng. Abdennabi Manar, Director-General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission Henrik Hololei and Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) William M. Walsh were in the attendance.

The 54th AGM sheds light on challenges that the aviation industry is facing as a result of COVID-19, and the efforts being made for a safe, secure, and sustainable recovery of the aviation sector.
