HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al-Thani inaugurated on Monday the International Trade Exhibition for Construction Technology, Building Materials, Equipment & Environmental Technology "Project Qatar 2023".

Supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), the event is held at Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC).

Following the inauguration ceremony, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry toured several pavilions, including Ashghal, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Qatari Diar, Qatar Navigation (Milaha), along with major private sector companies participating in the exhibition at the local level, during which, His Excellency was briefed on the nature of exhibitors' operation.

The four-day exhibition attracts nearly 320 exhibitors distributed between 120 companies from various 25 countries and 8 of them are participating with official local pavilions and 200 Qatari companies, including major governmental and semi-governmental companies, alongside the high-profile private sector companies.

The first day of the event featured the inaugural sessions of an accompanying conference and each session was devoted to a different topic. The first day under the title "Q Invest" covers the most prominent investment opportunities available in the construction sector in Qatar, while the second day under the title: "Q Industry" covers titles associated with the development of industry and local production.

The third day under the title: "Q Tech" will be dedicated to exploring the role of smart technology in the construction sector, while the fourth day under the title: "Q Green" will address the environmental challenges and issues of sustainability and green building.

During the opening of these sessions, the Director of Projects Affairs at Ashghal Eng. Yousef Al Emadi gave an overview of construction project opportunities available in Qatar during and beyond the current year. He urged stakeholders and those concerned with the construction sector to capitalize on the crucial opportunities in the projects field in the country, lauding the exhibition's commitment to continue advancing the construction sector in light of the global challenges.

For his part, General Manager of IFP Qatar Haidar Mshaimesh said the event which will be concluded on June 1, 2023, provides numerous opportunities to national and foreign contracting companies to expand in the Qatari market, pointing out that it contributes to increasing direct foreign investments flows to the State of Qatar.

He asserted that the construction sector in Qatar is currently on the verge of a new phase whose core pillar is to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030, and will primarily focus on industrial and social infrastructure development projects, as well as combining cutting-edge technologies and elements of smart cities in construction works in the country.

Project Qatar 2023 showcases the Qatari industries sector to the international audience within a designated area which carries the title of Qatar Industries within the exerted efforts dedicated to reaching out to a broader audience and promoting local manufacturers' products.

In addition, the exhibition highlights the technological innovations in this edition that will undertake a crucial role in the sector's future within the "Smart Cities" pavilion which includes several providers of multi-purpose advanced technologies in construction projects.

The exhibition is an opportunity to access the Qatari prosperous construction market, in addition to creating new opportunities for businesses of various sizes of companies and largely focuses on the major achievements made by the State of Qatar at the level of local industries' sector expansion during the past years.
