Crew of the Fath Al Khair 5 cruise journey received a festive and joyful welcome by the administration of the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara and a large crowd of families of the crew members and media, upon arrival at Hamad International Airport (HIA) on Tuesday evening.

The 40-day long Fath Al Khair 5 cruise journey kicked of on July 4, 2021 and included the coasts of Malta, Italy, France and Spain with the aim of introducing Qatar's maritime heritage and promoting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In a statement on this occasion, Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti praised the crew and their high interest in achieving its goals, confirming that Katara has been keen to promote the Qatari heritage, and one of its most important goals was to preserve and introduce it during the Fath Al Khair 5 journey, in addition to its mission to promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He underlined that Katara organized this trip with all accuracy and professionalism to gain this achievement, with the efforts of Qatari youth.

For his part, Nokhadha (captain) Muhammad Al Sada who led the trip, said in a statement to the Qatar news agency (QNA): "we covered a distance of 5238 kilometers during the trip, which lasted about 40 days, during which we faced many challenges and climatic difficulties between changing the air direction per day from 4 to 5 times, especially the big difference between the Arabian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea, and hurricanes between the regions, especially in the mountains near the coasts, and thanks to Allah Almighty and the mission of Al-Yazwa (sailors), we were able to overcome them and walk towards our goal with enthusiasm and pleasure.

He added that the trip was an opportunity to introduce the maritime heritage in Qatar, besides that Fath Al Khair 5 has prepared a lot of Al-Yazwa to take the lead at sea, and they will pass on their experiences to others, where the management of the trip is keen to gather the largest number of new young people along with a smaller number of those who participated in previous Fath Al Khair 5 trips.

He concluded his statement to QNA by saying that Nokhadha must be distinguished by the ability to lead and be wise, and be familiar with the nature of the ports he passes through, with the need for harmony among the team members to make the appropriate decision to continue, pointing out the interaction of the public with this trip in all the ports where they stopped, even some fans were following the course of the trip in more than one port.

For their part, the 17 sailors of the trip expressed their happiness at the completion of the trip to the fullest. They stressed that they took it upon themselves to introduce the ancient Qatari heritage, as well as provide an adequate picture of the preparations of the state of Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

For his part, Ahmed Al Harmi from the sailors team of Fath Al Khair 5 said in a similar statement to QNA that the flight passed peacefully after many difficulties and challenges, and thanks to Allah Almighty and the efforts of the Nokhadha (captain ) and the team, we were able to overcome these difficulties, pointing out that it was the first time he participated in this trip despite the fact that his field of work is connected to the sea, stressing that this trip was an opportunity to exchange experiences, especially since the sail mechanism is new to him; therefore, he advised young people to join such major trips that carry a message and a voice for the state of Qatar around the world.

Yousef Abdulrahman, one of Al-Yazwa (sailors), said: "We were all on the same heart and everyone is cooperating, and despite the hardship and difficulties, we were happy and enjoyed this trip, in which we were introduced to the Qatari maritime heritage on the one hand, and promoted the World Cup in our beloved state of Qatar on the other.

Katara launched four journeys of Fath Al Khair 5, the first started on November 22, 2013, and lasted 27 days, during which it toured the ports of the Arab Gulf countries, and the second sailed from Katara beach to Mumbai, India on October 5, 2015, to return to the cultural village on November 17, 2015.
