The local organizing committee for the Asian Football Cup Qatar 2023 announced on Saturday, that Doha will receive a delegation of fan leaders for the Asian teams participating in the tournament.

The committee stated that Doha’s reception of the fan leaders representing 24 teams that will participate in the finals from January 12 to February 10, 2024, will take place from December 9 to 11, and that this comes in a step that reflects the importance of public attendance.

For the major continental event, the delegation’s programme includes a visit to several stadiums that host the tournament’s competitions, and an exploration of many tourist sites and cultural landmarks, to test the experiences that Qatar will offer to football fans during the upcoming sporting event.

Faisal Khaled, Senior Director of the Fan Communication Program at the Asian Cup Local Organizing Committee, said: “The fans constitute the beating heart and renewable energy of the tournament, and we are pleased to welcome them and introduce them to the most prominent landmarks of the country and the atmosphere that fans of the teams will experience while they are in Qatar to attend the great event.”

He added that the fans represent an active element in enhancing the pace of excitement for the continental championship, by contributing to conveying an image of the country’s preparations to the tournament fans, and preparing a unique experience in Doha while enjoying Qatar’s rich tourist and cultural attractions.

The Asian public is waiting for an active role through the participation of the local organizing committee with ideas about ways to give fans the best possible experience, in addition to active participation through their observations and opinions that contribute to evaluating the hosting experience and providing information related to organizing major sporting events in the future.

Qatar is preparing to host the 2023 Asian Cup for the third time in its history, after the 1988 and 2011 editions, setting a record for hosting the tournament.

In the Asian Cup, 24 of the continent's best teams will compete in nine international stadiums that hosted the World Cup in November and December 2022.
