The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has said that it is forbidden to require a minimum order system in restaurants.

In a tweet, the MoCI said, β€œIt is prohibited to apply a minimum charge requirement that obliges customers to order items they do not need and pay additional sums.”

In 2016, the ministry issued Circular No. 6, which stipulates that all restaurants, hotels and cafes must refrain from applying the minimum order system, or what is known as Minimum Charge.
