Al Wakrah hopes to defeat Qatar SC

Al Wakrah will try to retain their good form when they play Qatar SC in tomorrow's QNB Stars League (QSL) match at the Al Janoub Stadium.

The Blue Waves, who finished third last season, are second after three rounds, seven points behind leaders Al Arabi.

Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez was pleased with his team's great start, but emphasized that consistency is crucial for his club.

He described Qatar SC as a powerful side during a news conference yesterday.

“I have seen Qatar SC in the first three matches and I think the team is physically strong and well organised,” Lopez said.

“The most important thing is they are performing well on the field so I think the match will be difficult for us. We got good time to prepare for the match as the break was more than we got before our previous matches,” he added.

According to the coach, the team's upbeat attitude is the reason for the team's strong performance in the first three games.

“The reason behind our strong start is that the players are performing well and they are going into the matches with a positive approach, which is very good."

Trent Sainsbury of Al Wakrah stated the club was prepared for the encounter and hoped to defeat Qatar SC.

“Every week we train as usual to get the three points and yes we had more time to train this week and this makes us more prepared to get the three points,” the Australian said.

He added: “Adapting to my new team was not easy, of course, and I can say that I still did not memorize all the names. In the first match, I was not 100% sure of it. I am still adapting and I need time for that.”

Meanwhile, Qatar SC coach Youssef Safri stated that his squad must play well against Al Wakrah in tomorrow's encounter.

“Al Wakrah are in outstanding form. It is very important for us to give a quality performance to achieve good result and I have great confidence in the players,” he said.

Qatar SC is ninth in the standings with four points from their first three games.
