The Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the Security Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 organized a press conference

On Saturday May 21, 2022 at the Intercontinental Hotel to announce the details of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022â„¢ Security Last-Mile Conference. Maj. Gen. Eng. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ansari, Head of the Safety & Security Operations Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Brig. Ibrahim Khalil Al-Mohannadi, Head of the Legal Affairs and Communication Unit of the Committee, and Brig. Abdullah Khalifa Al-Muftah, Head of the Media Unit addressed the press conference.

Maj. Gen. Eng. Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ansari stated that under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, the Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Security Committee at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), and with the participation of local, regional and international stakeholders and partners, the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the Security Committee will organize the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Security Last-Mile Conference from 22-23 May 2022. 

"The conference will outline Qatar’s security readiness ahead of Qatar 2022, seek to identify the latest preparations for the tournament, enhance police cooperation and monitor the implementation of plans and strategies in collaboration with local, regional and international stakeholders. The event will also ensure cooperation between tournament organizers and qualified countries". he said. 

He added that a number of personalities including the delegates representing the qualified countries, as well as representatives from the United Nations, FIFA, the SC, and many international and local entitities, as well as representatives from other relevant stakeholders, will participate in the conference. The conference agenda includes a tournament overview, security risk assessment, security planning, security procedures at tournament facilities, cybersecurity requirements, and communication and cooperation with international partners.

Major General Al-Ansari emphasized that in order to ensure the highest levels of security and stability for all spectators during the 2022 World Cup, the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) has been established in Doha. It is an operations room managed and supervised by the committee, and it has been provided with the latest advanced technological means and the necessary infrastructure for the center to perform its role and achieve its objectives. A group of young qualified officers with outstanding skills have also been deployed at the center.

Brig. Ibrahim Khalil Al-Mohannadi pointed to the roles of the IPCC by exchanging information between Qatar, as the host country, both participating and non-participating countries, and relevant international organizations. He added that the conference will be an opportunity to further enhance cooperation and communication with countries and international and regional organizations.

For his part, Brig. Abdullah Al-Muftah said that the conference will discuss various very important subjects and tournament's Safety & Security Operations Committee, since its formation, has sought to implement its security strategy and plans in the field of training and qualifying personnel and to enhance international and regional cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries. The SSOC has also carried out numerous field exercises to ensure Qatar hosts a safe and secure FIFA World Cupâ„¢.
