UAE Fast-Tracks Work Permits with AI

The UAE has officially integrated artificial intelligence and robotics into its work permit system, marking a major leap forward in automating government services and accelerating application turnaround times

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) confirmed that advanced AI models and robotic process automation (RPA) are now being used to evaluate work permit applications, verify documentation, and flag inconsistencies, significantly reducing manual workload and improving accuracy.

A Faster, Smarter Work Permit System

Officials say the new system can:

•    Analyse applications in seconds
•    Detect missing or incorrect information automatically
•    Cross check data with government databases
•    Reduce human error and processing delays
•    Improve transparency and compliance

The technology is designed to handle high volumes of applications, supporting the UAE’s rapidly expanding labour market and its goal of becoming a global leader in digital governance.

Strengthening Efficiency and Security

By shifting evaluation tasks to AI and robotics, MoHRE aims to:

•    Enhance service quality for employers and workers
•    Boost cybersecurity and data protection
•    Ensure consistent, rule based decision making
•    Free human staff to focus on complex cases and customer support

The move aligns with the UAE’s broader digital transformation strategy, which prioritises automation, smart services, and AI driven public administration.

Part of a Larger National Vision

The introduction of AI in work permit processing supports:

•    The UAE’s 2031 AI Strategy
•    Government efforts to streamline labour market procedures
•    The country’s ambition to build one of the world’s most advanced digital economies

Officials say more AI-powered enhancements will be rolled out across labour and residency services in the coming months.
