●    New Year’s Eve triggers a nationwide memory wipe, with luggage and wallets topping the list of items left behind on weekends.

DOHA, QATAR — June 10, 2026 — We’ve all experienced that cold spike of panic when we reach into our pockets and realize our keys are gone. But have you ever hopped out of an Uber ride and realized you left an entire frozen chicken or a literal championship trophy in the backseat?

The Uber Lost & Found Index has officially crunched the numbers from the past year, and the results are a hilarious, relatable, and mildly baffling look into the minds of Qatar's commuters. From high-tech gadgets to home decor and pop-culture collectibles, residents have proven that if it isn't glued down, there is a distinct chance it will be left behind in an Uber.

Whether essential or totally unusual, the index serves as a gentle reminder to always do a double-take before stepping out of the backseat.

The 10 Most Unique Lost Items

While most people are busy tracking down their smartphones, a select few are mourning the loss of some incredibly specific gear. Out of the wildest items reported, here are top picks of the most unique things left behind this year:

  1. Dinner plans derailed: A frozen chicken. We can only imagine the confusion when getting to the kitchen counter.
  2. Winning at losing: A trophy. You might be a champion on the field, but you're a heavyweight in the lost-and-found department.
  3. Aladdin on the move: 2 carpets. How you manage to slip away from two entire rolled-up carpets remains an absolute mystery.
  4. Floating away: A helium tank. Taking your party vibes to literal new heights.
  5. Grounded: Soil. Just... a bag of dirt. We hope whatever plant it was destined for eventually found peace.
  6. Sci-fi sidekick: A robot (most likely a favorite toy!). Hopefully, its miniature programming includes instructions on how to find its way back home.
  7. Labubu on the loose: The beloved monster-like art toy was a frequent stowaway this year. Don't worry, your Labubu has been riding shotgun and vibing with the driver.
  8. Cleaning up your act: A vacuum cleaner. Trying to clean up your ride, or just trying to clear your mind?
  9. Glamour on the go: False eyelashes. For those moments when you're rushing to a special dinner and a crucial piece of your look decides to stay behind.
  10. A dental disaster: A retainer. A classic, heart-stopping moment for teenagers (and their parents' wallets) everywhere.

The 10 Most Commonly Forgotten Items

Of course, it’s not all frozen poultry and trophy glory. The everyday essentials still dominate the lost-and-found bins. If you've lost one of these recently, you are very much not alone:

  1. Phone
  2. Luggage
  3. Wallet
  4. Headphones
  5. Keys
  6. Glasses
  7. Passport
  8. Clothing
  9. Water bottle
  10. Jewerly

Peak Amnesia: By the Numbers

  • The Ultimate Peak Day: December 31, 2025. New Year's Eve officially goes down as the day of absolute collective amnesia. As Qatar counted down to the new year, brains checked out early.

Lost items that peak on certain days:

Our index revealed a fascinating weekly rhythm to our forgetfulness. It turns out, human memory operates on a strict schedule, claiming different items depending on the day of the week:

  • Sundays:  People are most likely to forget bags as they swap weekend mode for work mode and rush back into the week.
  • Mondays: People are most likely to forget headphones—perhaps misplaced after settling back into the rhythm of the week.
  • Tuesdays: People are most likely to forget an Airpods case (presumably because they already lost the actual pods on Monday).
  • Wednesdays: People are most likely to forget their watch, keeping an eye on that mid-week countdown.
  • Thursdays: People are most likely to forget a water bottle while staying hydrated ahead of the weekend.
  • Fridays: People are most likely to forget luggage as staycations and weekend getaways kick off.
  • Saturdays: People are most likely to forget their wallet as packed social calendars and weekend adventures keep them on the move.
