Sharjah approves promotions, rank adjustments for 2,218 police personnel

SHARJAH - Sharjah has approved promotions and rank adjustments for 2,218 police personnel following directives from His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, with the new ranks linked to holders' educational qualifications.

The announcement was made by Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, speaking on the Direct Line programme.

Within the Sharjah Police General Command, the ranks of 1,555 personnel were adjusted in line with the new rank structure, while 366 others were granted seniority to accelerate their promotions — bringing the total affected there to 1,921.

At the Sharjah Police Science Academy, 65 members were promoted and a further 156 granted seniority, a total of 221. A further 76 members of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority were also promoted.

Lieutenant General bin Amer said the promotions reflected the attention Sheikh Sultan gives to those serving in Sharjah Police and the emirate's security bodies, and his commitment to empowering and motivating them and providing an environment that supports their professional development. Congratulating those promoted, he said a promotion represents a responsibility before it is an honour, and should serve as an incentive to redouble efforts and sustain excellence.

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority is separately continuing to regularise the employment status of its officers and personnel in line with the newly approved military ranks and their academic qualifications, seeking a balance between qualifications and practical experience — a process that complements the promotion of its 76 members and the adoption of new criteria for assigning ranks.

Authorities said the measures are intended to motivate national cadres, raise efficiency and productivity, and strengthen institutional performance in support of the emirate's security and community service work.
