September to mark transition from summer to winter in Qatar By Simran - September 01, 2026

Qatar Weather

The Qatar Meteorology Department has released its climate information for September in Doha, highlighting the month as the beginning of autumn and a transition period between the hot summer and cooler winter season.

September Marks the Start of Autumn

According to the weather department, September is the first month of autumn in Qatar. It marks a gradual transition from the intense summer heat towards more moderate weather conditions as the country moves closer to winter.

During September, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease, bringing relatively milder conditions compared with the peak summer months.

However, the weather can still remain warm, particularly during the daytime, as the seasonal transition takes place.

Humidity Levels Expected to Rise

Relative humidity is expected to increase during September. The combination of warmer temperatures and higher humidity may result in humid conditions at times, particularly around coastal areas.

Cloud formations are also expected to increase throughout the month. The Qatar Meteorology Department noted a higher possibility of rainfall, with some showers potentially becoming thundery, especially during the afternoon.

Residents should therefore remain alert to changing weather conditions and possible sudden rain or thunderstorms.

Light to Moderate Easterly Winds

Winds during September are expected to be mainly easterly, generally ranging from light to moderate speeds.

The changing wind patterns, together with increasing cloud cover and humidity, are part of Qatar's gradual transition from summer to autumn.

Overall, September is expected to bring gradually milder temperatures, higher humidity, increased cloud formation and a greater chance of afternoon rain and thunderstorms as Qatar enters the autumn season.
