Qatar Charity (QC) has launched the 2023-2024 winter campaign titled ‘One Heart’, with the aim of reaching approximately 1.5 million people in 21 countries, including Qatar, at an estimated cost of around QR60 million.

The campaign focuses on Palestine due to the current challenging humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, which has further worsened with the onset of winter. It also targets crisis-stricken regions, as well as those experiencing extreme cold.

The campaign aims to provide essential winter necessities related to shelter, food, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Food includes packages containing various items and bread as well as school feeding. Under the shelter category winter clothing, blankets, covers, heater fuel, gas cylinders, tents, home rent and maintenance, and caravan are included. The health sector encompasses primary health services and first aid kits. The WASH field includes water, water tanks, and personal hygiene kits, in addition to the rehabilitation of toilets.

The campaign also aims to provide winter assistance to 4,100 workers within Qatar. This assistance includes winter kits, food packages, and medical aid, in addition to awareness activities.

Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for the Resources Development and Media Sector at Qatar Charity, stated that Qatar Charity has consistently launched winter campaigns to provide the necessary supplies for vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, impoverished families, and those in need, with a focus on the affected individuals in Palestine and the Gaza Strip. He emphasised that the campaign will also concentrate on countries facing crises, disasters, and extreme cold.

Fakhroo urged the benefactors in Qatar to support the winter campaign to reach the largest possible number of crisis-affected and needy people worldwide, especially those in Palestine, given the current challenging humanitarian conditions, which have worsened significantly with the onset of winter, low temperatures, and rainfall.

He thanked the donors, including individuals, companies, and others, who contributed to Qatar Charity’s previous winter campaigns for the benefit of millions of the affected, especially in crisis-stricken regions and impoverished communities. The “One Heart” campaign targets 21 countries, which are Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Albania, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Central Africa, Chad, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Morocco, and Qatar, in addition to Rohingya refugees.

People can donate through Qatar Charity’s website (https://qch.qa/oneheart), in addition to dialling the hotline +974 4429 0000 for donating. Donations can also be made at Qatar Charity’s branches and collection points across the country. Donors can also request for home collectors to receive the donations from their locations.
