Qatar Rail Launches Sunflower Program to Support Passengers with Hidden Disabilities
The Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has introduced the Sunflower program across the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and accessible travel.
The initiative, part of a globally recognised framework, uses the sunflower symbol as a discreet and voluntary way for passengers to indicate that they may have a hidden disability and could require additional support, more time, or clearer communication during their journey.
Officials noted that the program builds on the success of last yearâs Best Buddies initiative, which received strong engagement and positive feedback from customers. By becoming a Sunflower-enabled transport network, Qatar Rail has integrated the program across stations and onboard services, ensuring a consistent and supportive experience for all passengers.
Customer service teams have undergone specialised training to recognise the sunflower symbol and provide assistance with empathy, professionalism, and care. This ensures that passengers with hidden disabilities are met with understanding and respect throughout their journey.
Under its unifying âEvery Journey Mattersâ umbrella, Qatar Rail continues to advance inclusive initiatives that guarantee every customer can travel with dignity, confidence, and care. The company emphasized that the program reflects its broader commitment to social responsibility and aligns with its ESG priorities.
