Iran US ceasefire
H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received on 13 March 2026 a phone call from H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi, who called to discuss recent developments in the region.
The two sides, during the meeting, highlighted the need to maintain the ceasefire between Iran and the United States in order to boost regional stability.
Sheikh Mohammed called on all sides to respond positively to continued mediation efforts and address the underlying causes of the crisis through dialogue and peaceful means, enabling a long-term agreement that would prevent a relapse into escalation.
He also stressed the need to keep maritime routes open and freedom of navigation in place, saying they must not become bargaining chips.
His Excellency also warned that any disruption of shipping lanes would have dire consequences for countries in the region, as well as for energy and food supplies across the world with broader ramifications on peace and security at the global level.
