Qatar Airways marked a new milestone in its African expansion strategy on 2 July 2026, with the airlineâs first flight landing in Port Sudan. The launch of this new route strengthens connectivity between Doha and Sudanâs Red Sea coast, underscoring the carrierâs commitment to enhancing regional access and supporting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange across Africa.
The airline confirmed that it will operate three weekly flights between Doha (DOH) and Port Sudan (PZU). Services are scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, offering passengers convenient travel options and reinforcing Qatar Airwaysâ role as a bridge between the Gulf and East Africa.
Flight Schedule:
- Doha â Port Sudan: Departure at 9:00 AM, arriving at 11:00 AM.
- Port Sudan â Doha: Departure at 12:25 PM, arriving at 4:20 PM.
Officials highlighted that the new service is part of Qatar Airwaysâ broader strategy to expand its footprint across Africa, a region increasingly central to the airlineâs global network. The Port Sudan route is expected to facilitate greater economic cooperation, improve access for business and leisure travelers, and provide a vital link for communities along Sudanâs Red Sea coast.
Industry observers noted that the launch comes at a time when demand for regional connectivity is rising, with Doha positioned as a key hub for passengers traveling between Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. The new flights are expected to support both commercial ties and humanitarian access, reflecting Qatar Airwaysâ dual focus on economic growth and social responsibility.
The inaugural service to Port Sudan adds to Qatar Airwaysâ growing list of African destinations, reinforcing its reputation as one of the worldâs leading carriers with a strong emphasis on expanding into emerging markets.
