Qatar's HH the Emir, US Prez hold bilateral talks; also discuss Jerusalem issue

Qatar’s His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and US President Donald Trump conducted a telephonic conversation on Wednesday evening.

During the call, the leaders discussed bilateral relations and means of boosting them. Further, Trump also informed HH the Emir of his intention to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.


To this, HH the Emir warned of the serious repercussions, that he felt would further complicate the situation in the Middle East and negatively affect the security and stability in the region, as reported by Gulf Times.

Meanwhile, HH the Emir held a telephone  conversation with Palestinian President  Mahmoud Abbas, wherein both reviewed developments in Jerusalem, particularly in relation to the decision of the US president to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

It may be mentioned that Qatar’s firm position towards the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative, which is based on the two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
