The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday approved a draft law on industrial zones and referred it to the Advisory Council. The meeting was chaired by HE Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

The draft law defines the industrial zones as areas designated for industrial purposes in accordance with the provisions of this law, including lands, installations and facilities erected thereon, said a report in QNA. The cabinet will have the authority to establish such zones on the recommendations of Minister of Energy and Industry in coordination with the concerned authorities.

The land and all the natural resources in the industrial zones will be considered as the property of the State and will be used in accordance with the law. The law provides for adequate compensation for the tenant for the loss of full or partial use of these lands.

Industrial establishments will need authorization from relevant authorities and approval from the Ministry of Energy and Industry to start working in the industrial zones, the report added.
