Ministry of Awqaf opens new mosque in Al Dhakhira

The latest mosque in the series is Hamad Isa Al Hassan Al Muhannadi Mosque, which was opened as part of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs ongoing plan to improve mosque services all over Qatar through its Mosque Department. The initiative continues to bolster urban development across the nation and satisfy population growth allowing for modernity in ready access to well-equipped worship centers.

Modern Mosque Designed to Serve the Community

Located on a 4,400-square-meter lot, the new mosque which has been built to modern engineering needs also includes an imam residence and muezzin accommodation. According to the ministry, the mosque meets the highest level of technical and architectural standards while it provides worshipers with a comfortable environment.

Key features include:

• Built on a 4,400-square-metre site

• Capacity for more than 480 worshippers

• 425 spaces in the main men's prayer hall

• 56 spaces in a dedicated women's prayer area

• Ablution facilities and a traditional Islamic-style minaret

• Residential accommodation for the imam and muezzin

Waqf Endowment Supports the Project

It was built as a waqf (Islamic endowment) by the philanthropist Aisha bint Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Muhannadi which indicates the important role played by charitable endowments in supporting building and refurbishing houses of worship. The contribution will create a perpetual charitable endowment fund that will continue to give back for generations, the ministry said.

Promoting Community Development Through Endowments

The Ministry said that the project demonstrates the importance of endowments in developing and promoting social well-being, philanthropy and community solidarity in Qatari society. It pointed out that such projects contribute to funding mosques and other community-oriented initiatives serving individuals and the larger community.

Part of Qatar's 2025–2030 Strategic Plan

The new Friday mosque is registered as Mosque No. (MS 1454) and fits within the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs' Strategic Plan for 2025-2030, which will enhance and update mosque infrastructure, religious services, in addition to offering integrated worship facilities to sufficiently accommodate Qatar's expanding urban landscape and demographic growth.

Strategic objectives include:

• Strengthening mosques to become centers of worship, Qur'an recitation, and guidance
