On the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in France, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AlāThani met with HE President of the United States Donald Trump, reaffirming the strength of bilateral relations and highlighting shared priorities in trade, investment, and regional diplomacy.
HH the Amir emphasized the depth of the QatarāUS partnership, noting that economic cooperation has expanded significantly since President Trumpās visit to Doha last year. He pointed to Qatarās substantial investments in the United States and welcomed reciprocal American investments in Qatar, expressing satisfaction with the level of engagement. His Highness also praised US efforts in the Middle East and reiterated Qatarās support for the recently announced USāIran agreement, stressing the importance of a lasting settlement that enhances security and stability.
President Trump expressed appreciation for HH the Amir, commending Qatarās role in managing regional crises and referring to the second phase of the USāIran accord. He highlighted opportunities in industry, artificial intelligence, and automotive sectors, underscoring the potential for deeper economic cooperation.
The talks also covered maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, the smooth flow of international trade, and coordination on issues of mutual interest including energy security and economic collaboration. Both leaders stressed the importance of diplomacy in resolving regional crises and advancing stability.
The meeting was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim AlāThani, HE Chief of Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, and members of the Qatari delegation. From the US side, participants included HE Secretary of State Marco Rubio, HE Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, and senior officials accompanying President Trump.
