Get ready for a fun-filled three-day Eid festival next week as preparations are underway for the first edition happening on the Corniche which is expected to draw a crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 daily, said Qatar Tourism (QT).

From balloon parade, to daily concerts and fireworks, the first-ever Eid festival is a must-see for everyone, perfect as the government has announced the Eid Al Fitr as public holiday.

QT in a statement said that from 3pm to 4:30pm, they will start the admission along the stretch of Corniche; for one hour or 4:30pm to 5:30pm, the Doha Balloon Parade starts displaying giant classic cartoon character like Super Mario, alongside symbols of Qatar’s ecology and cultural diversity – whale shark, and dhow boat.

At night (7.30pm to 9pm), gear up for live music concerts where top artists from the Arab world will perform. On May 3, Mahmoud Al Turki will hold a concert, followed by Nasser Al Kubeissi on May 4, and on the last day of the festival or on May 5, Sultan Khalifa will serenade the crowd. The music concert is free of charge.

Al Turki is an Iraqi singer known for his pop songs such as “Yema Hmeid.” Al Kubeissi is a Qatari singer who began his career at the opening ceremony of Asian Games in 2006 where Qatar is the host country. And Sultan Khalifa is a talented Saudi star.

Children and kids at heart will enjoy games and activities plus roaming performers, and a helium balloon showcase from 5.30pm to 11pm.

And, daily fireworks display will paint the Corniche sky throughout the three-day festival at 9pm. Food stalls will also be placed at the area where a variety of dishes will be featured from different countries.
