Dubai Opens 700-Metre Al Qudra Bridge to Boost Traffic Flow

Dubai has opened a 700-metre bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, marking another milestone in the emirate’s ongoing road infrastructure development.

The northern bridge provides two lanes in each direction and serves motorists travelling along Al Qudra Road towards Al Qudra City and in the direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Its opening forms part of a wider programme by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to upgrade major intersections along the Al Qudra corridor.

The broader Al Qudra Road Development Project includes the construction of bridges with a combined length of 2,700 metres, along with the widening and improvement of 11.6 kilometres of existing roads.

Once the overall project is completed, RTA expects road capacity along the corridor to increase significantly, while travel time is projected to fall by around 70 per cent — from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes.

The development is designed to serve several major residential and development areas, including Arabian Ranches 1 and 2, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, DAMAC Hills, Mudon and The Sustainable City. Around 400,000 residents and visitors are expected to benefit from the improvements.

Other works within the project include additional bridges and service roads aimed at providing smoother traffic movements between Al Qudra Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Emirates Road, Jebel Ali, central Dubai and Dubai International Airport.

The project reflects Dubai’s continued investment in expanding its road network to keep pace with population growth and urban development, while improving connectivity and reducing congestion across rapidly growing communities.
