Checklist of Requirements You Need When Returning to Qatar from August

The long wait is over. The travel ban is lifted. Come 1st of August 2020 and you can finally return to Qatar after several months of waiting, since its borders were closed in March to foreign travelers, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

If you wanted to know the documents and requirements you need to complete when coming back to Qatar, here’s a checklist for your quick guide:

DOCUMENTS CHECKLIST

Requirement Terms Origin
Passport - To enter Qatar, passports must have one blank page and be valid for at least six months. Low-risk and Not Low-risk countries
Qatar residence card

- Only Qatar ID (QID) holders will be permitted to travel to Qatar from 1 August

- If your QID has expired while you have been outside of Qatar you may be permitted to re-enter Qatar to renew your QID

Low-risk and Not Low-risk countries
Entry permit - Apply through the Qatar Portal. Applications for a re-entry permit do not open until 1 August. Low-risk and Not Low-risk countries
Hotel reservation for quarantine - A hard or soft copy of the residence reservation must be submitted in one of the hotels approved for the quarantine
 
Non-low-risk countries
Hotel quarantine undertaking - From your self-funded hotel quarantine Not Low-risk countries
COVID examination certificate - A hard copy of the medical examination, conducted within a period not exceeding 48 hours in one of the accredited hospitals (if any), must be presented to concerned officials at the airport Low-risk countries
 

 

RETURNING TO QATAR CHECKLIST

Process Terms Origin
1. Apply for Exceptional Entry Permit

- Applications for a re-entry permit do not open until 1 August.

- Create new account on Qatar Portal or Log in to your existing account (if available)

- Read terms and conditions and prepare all required attachments before starting the application.

- If you are coming from a low-risk country, get evidence of residence in your country for 72 hours or more and attach it to your application.

- Click on “Apply for Exceptional Entry Permit”

- Enter application page and fill in required information correctly and completely as shown in passport.

- Enter your email correctly to receive approval on your application.

- Upload proof of staying in a low-risk country for 72 hours or more. If you reside less than 72 hours in a low-risk country, you will be considered coming from other countries (not low-risk) and will be treated accordingly

- Print permit

2. Take a Covid-19 test

- Take COVID-19 test in an approved hospital (if any) within a period not exceeding 48 hours from the date of departure

- Submit a hard copy of the examination certificate upon arrival in Hamad International Airport

- In the case the COVID test is not conducted in the departure country, the test will be conducted at the airport upon arrival. 

- For other countries, if your result is positive, you will be directed for isolation, and if it is negative, a compulsory period of one week is spent in the quarantine hotel.

3. Keep copy of quarantine undertaking - Present it to airport officials upon arrival Not Low-risk countries
3. Download the EHTERAZ application upon arrival

- Yellow: (Quarantine) Upon arrival back to Doha’s Hamad International Airport

- Green: If your 6-day test result is negative

- Red: If test result is positive
 

Low-risk and Not Low-risk countries
 
4. Undergo hotel and home quarantine

- Hotel reservation in one of the hotels designated and approved for quarantine for one week from the date of arrival

- Book a hotel quarantine package via Qatar Airways Holidays in partnership with Discover Qatar prior to arriving to Qatar.

- You will be able to leave the hotel on day 7 to begin a further period of home quarantine for 7 days (14 days total quarantine)
 

Not Low-risk countries
4. Undergo home quarantine - sign a formal pledge to adhere to quarantine at home for a week
 
Low-risk countries
 

 

HOME QUARANTINE CHECKLIST

Requirement Terms
1. Own room with linked bathroom
 
- Confine yourself to your own room and not mix with the rest of the family
 
2. Home quarantine undertaking  - Sign an undertaking (including all the family members and household helpers living in the same house) to abide by the rules of home-based quarantine 
3. Short video and pamphlet on home quarantine.  - Watch and review this onboard of the flight before arrival in Qatar
4. Preventive measures at home  - To protect others in your home
5. Swab on day 6 - Take this after your arrival back to Doha at a designated drive through primary healthcare center
 
6. Phone calls from public health team  - Answer the calls during your home quarantine
7. Visit from the public health team 
 
- Every 2 to 3 days
8. Inform the public health team if you develop any symptoms - Like fever, cough, body aches, change in taste or smell
9. Download the Ehteraz app - Upon arrival in Qatar
10. Do not receive visitors  - While under home quarantine
