Things to Do
Let me be real with you — most weekends in Qatar, you end up doing the same loop. Coffee at The Pearl, a slow walk along the Corniche, then back home wondering where the time went. But this weekend is genuinely different. Between live concerts, last-chance exhibitions, classical music at Katara, and a Hot Wheels pop-up that's more fun than it sounds — there's a lot happening. Here's what I'd actually do if I had a free weekend in Doha right now.
This one's a no-brainer. A 13-time Grammy winner, performing live at 974 Stadium — that's not something Doha gets every weekend. His voice is even better off a record and the setlist will hit you in places you weren't expecting. If you're still on the fence, stop overthinking it. Book the ticket. You'll thank yourself Saturday morning.
Saturday evening at Katara Opera House. If you've never caught a live classical performance at Katara, the venue alone is worth it. This one features Beethoven — proper, full brass orchestral Beethoven — which is a very different kind of Friday night energy. Perfect if you want something more grown-up and memorable than another restaurant dinner. Book your tickets now.
Running until May 2 — and yes, it's as fun as it sounds. Hot Wheels Speed City just landed at Katara and it's genuinely one of the better family activities in Doha right now. Kids go absolutely wild for it, but honestly the nostalgia hit for adults is real too. April weather makes perfect timing — get there before it wraps up or before the heat makes outdoor anything miserable. Book now.
A proper Doha gem that doesn't get enough attention. Desert Falls Sea Caves Waterpark has a dedicated Ladies Day every week — and if you haven't been, it's one of those places that's way more impressive than you'd expect. The sea caves concept is unique, the water is clean, and it's a genuinely fun afternoon out without needing to plan anything elaborate. Book your tickets now.
This is genuinely your last chance. Qatar's first traveling water circus from the Middle East wraps up this Saturday. I know "circus" sounds like it's only for kids — it's not. Fontana is a full spectacle and it's been selling out nights all month. If you've been saying "I'll go next week" — there is no next week.
Empire of Light exhibition runs until May 30. The MIA never gets old, no matter how many times you've walked through it. Right now it's hosting the Afghanistan: Crossroads of Culture exhibition alongside Empire of Light — both genuinely moving and worth your time. If you haven't been in a while, go this weekend. The building alone, shaped like a desert rose, is one of the most beautiful things in Doha.
April is the last comfortable month for this. Once May hits, the heat makes a full-day desert trip feel less like an adventure and more like a punishment. Sealine and the Inland Sea are still stunning right now — golden dunes, complete silence, and one of those sunsets that makes you remember why you chose to live here. Book through Doha Bus or a local operator. It's a proper reset for the soul.
