Basketball: Al Rayyan Reach Semi-Final of Qatar Cup

Al Rayyan to sit for the semifinals of Qatar Cup men’s basketball tournament for (2025-2026) season, as they overpowered their quarterfinal opponent Al Khor with a 70-47 victory in a one held this evening at Al Rayyan Sports Club Hall.

The periods ended 23-6, 12-14, 21-16 and 14-11 as Al Rayyan led.

Al Rayyan’s Abdullah Yassin was named Player of the Match, with 15 points, one rebound and three assists.

Al Rayyan will meet either defending champions Al Arabi or Al Sadd in their last-four clash, set for Apr. 13.

Earlier today, Al Sadd secured their quarterfinal spot by overcoming Al Ahli 78-67 in the preliminary round.

The quarterfinals will continue tomorrow, Thursday, at the Al Gharafa Sports Club Hall where there will be two well-matched fixtures as Al Wakrah takes on Qatar and Al Gharafa faces Al Shamal. The winners will face each other in the semifinals.

Note that Al Gharafa is the most decorated team in the history of the Qatar Cup basketball tournament with four titles, along with arch-rival Al Arabi.
