Bahrain Air Defence Systems Intercept and Destroy Iranian Drones

Bahrain has confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed Iranian drones targeting the kingdom, as renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran heightened security concerns across the Gulf.

The National Communication Centre said the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) successfully responded to the incoming drones. In a statement carried by Bahrain News Agency, the centre said the BDF’s air defence systems remained fully prepared to protect the safety and security of the kingdom.

Bahraini authorities also issued public safety guidance during the alert, urging residents to remain calm, move to safe locations when necessary and rely on official channels for verified information.

The incident came amid a fresh escalation between Washington and Tehran. The US military announced new strikes on targets linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, while Iran said it had launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks against US-linked military facilities in the region.

Reuters reported that Iran’s retaliation included attacks aimed at US assets in Bahrain and other regional locations. The renewed exchange of fire has increased concerns over wider regional instability and the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy shipments.

No casualties in Bahrain were reported in the initial official statements on the intercepted drones. Authorities said defence systems remained on alert as the situation developed.
