Washington, November 01, 2026 : Apple has introduced its latest iPad mini, featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display, the A20 Pro processor and upgraded audio, connectivity and artificial intelligence capabilities. The new tablet starts at $700.
The OLED screen is the device's main upgrade, offering richer colours and improved contrast. According to Apple, it can reach a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, while maintaining full-screen brightness of up to 600 nits for both standard dynamic range (SDR) and high dynamic range (HDR) content. An optional nano-texture finish is also available to reduce screen reflections.
The tablet features a new audio system called Acoustic Display, which incorporates low-frequency speakers into the screen structure to deliver deeper bass and increased volume. Apple has also redesigned the device's enclosure to improve resistance to water and dust, giving it an IP67 rating.
At its core, the new iPad mini runs on Apple's A20 Pro chip, also introduced with the iPhone 18 Pro earlier this year. The processor delivers improved performance over the A17 Pro found in the 2024 model, while enhancing on-device AI processing. Apple says the device can run large language models locally, reducing the need to rely entirely on cloud services.
Connectivity has also been upgraded through Apple's in-house N1 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread technology. The cellular model features a C2 modem, offering data speeds up to 50 percent faster than the previous generation.
For photography and video calls, the front-facing 12-megapixel Center Stage camera is designed to provide a more natural video-calling experience. The rear camera is also 12 megapixels and supports Smart HDR 4 and 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.
