Arab League Backs Qatar's Bid for 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games

CAIRO — The Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level has affirmed its support for the State of Qatar’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The endorsement was included in a resolution adopted during the 166th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, held at the League’s Secretariat General headquarters in Cairo.

According to the resolution, the Arab League views backing Qatar’s candidacy as part of wider efforts to strengthen Arab representation in the global sporting arena.

The Council called on Arab League member states to support Qatar’s bid for the 2036 Games in international forums, giving the candidacy formal regional political backing.

The resolution also assigned the Arab League Secretariat General responsibility for following up on its implementation. The Council highlighted the importance of joint Arab coordination in supporting international initiatives.

Regional Support for Qatar’s 2036 Bid
