What are UI and UX? User experience (UX) and interactive user interface (UI), however, are two very different disciplines within the larger field of computer-assisted human interaction or computer-based user experience (CAAU). User experience occurs within the full context of a website or other digital device, while user experience is typically measured using statistics and survey scores. 

Both terms, however, share some common ground. Both focus on what users see, feel, and do when using particular technologies, while the goals vary between different types of consumer use.

Before any user testing takes place, a good UI and UX designer will ask questions. The purpose of this is to gain insight into user behaviour so that they can fine-tune future designs for a user's individual needs. 

Some typical questions a UI designer may ask include: What functions would an average user take to perform? What places on the page could I hit fast to access a feature? How does each page load? How does the navigation work?

Once a user experience is defined, a designer can start testing. Most UI and UX design work together in teams, especially when it comes to testing. A test team will map out a user experience and collect data, such as demographics and behavioural data. This information can then be used to optimize future pages or user interfaces.

UX designers and users need to work together to improve the website. When users don't like a website they won't return or at least click away from it. If you can learn what makes a user uncomfortable before they ever get on your site, you've taken many steps towards improving the user experience. As a result, more people will come back to your site, and your revenue will grow. Good UX designers are worth their weight in gold.
