Ukraine, US Discuss Kyiv's Military Needs and Air Defense Requirements

Washington, September 13, 2026 : Ukraine's Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara discussed the situation on the battlefield, Russian threats, and Ukraine's air defense needs with members of the US Senate, alongside continued support for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Khmara Stresses Need for Continued Military Support

In a statement issued Saturday, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said Khmara stressed that Russia can only be stopped by force, adding that it remains important to continue supporting Ukraine's Defense Forces and provide the country with the means to protect its people and diminish Russia's military capabilities.

Ukraine Hands Over List of Defense Needs

The Ukrainian side handed over a detailed list of needs aimed at countering Russian aggression, including specific requirements related to air defense.

Cooperation on Ukrainian Combat Expertise Discussed

The two sides also discussed ways the United States and its allies could benefit from Ukrainian combat expertise, with the Ukrainian delegation presenting potential areas of cooperation and projects designed to help partners prepare for modern security threats.
