Silver Coin

ABU DHABI — The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has issued a silver commemorative coin to mark International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, celebrating the contribution of young people to the country’s future and sustainable development.

The commemorative coin weighs 60 grams and carries a nominal value of AED50. The issuance reflects the UAE’s emphasis on youth empowerment and recognises young people as active partners in the nation’s continued progress.

Sheikh Zayed Featured on the Coin

The obverse of the silver coin features a portrait of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It is accompanied by an excerpt from one of his poems in Arabic, reflecting his belief in empowering young people, encouraging initiative and hard work, and enabling new generations to contribute to nation-building.

AED50 Nominal Value

The reverse side features an image of the Central Bank of the UAE headquarters together with the coin’s AED50 nominal value. The design connects the commemorative theme of youth with one of the country’s key national financial institutions.

Celebrating the UAE’s Youth

Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at the CBUAE, said the issuance reflects the UAE’s deep appreciation for its youth and draws inspiration from Sheikh Zayed’s vision of young generations as partners in building and developing the nation.

The Central Bank said the initiative also supports efforts to strengthen national identity, increase awareness of the role young people play in economic and financial stability, and encourage their active contribution to the UAE’s future aspirations.

When Will the Coin Be Available?

The CBUAE said the launch date and the procedures for obtaining the commemorative coin will be announced later through its official website and social media channels. Collectors and members of the public interested in the issue should therefore wait for the Central Bank’s official availability announcement.

International Youth Day is observed globally on August 12 each year and focuses attention on the role, challenges and contributions of young people.
