Getting a Perfect 90 Score in the Class 9 Science Exam

Science is an important and major subject for class 9. One of the reasons why the students must learn the science of 9th class thoroughly is that the chapters will be repeated in class 11 with an in-depth knowledge of the topics. This happens only if you choose Class 9 science is divided into three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The students aspiring to become engineers, doctors, or who wish to do majors in any of the subjects, must have a good handle on these subjects.

Scoring a perfect 90 in the class 9 science subject required a huge amount of focus and smart work. Most of the students do not realize or plan the steps that must be taken to achieve a goal. However, even distractions such as social media networking sites, Tv or mobile phones, and procrastinating must be avoided.

Before proceeding towards studying or making a study timetable, one must always check the blueprint or distribution of marks in the subject. This allows you to have a different perspective or have a unique approach to maintaining the timetable.

Below is the marks distribution for the units of class 9 Science subject:

Unit 1: Matter - Nature And Its Behaviour – 23 marks

Unit 2: Organisation Of The Living World – 20 marks

Unit 3: Motion, Force, And Work – 27 marks

Unit 4: Our Environment – 6 marks

Unit 5: Food and Food Production – 4 marks

This makes the total marks of the question paper 80. 20 marks will be allotted for the internal assessment, conducted by the school.

Out of the 80 marks, 68 marks are for the theory questions and the remaining 12 marks are multiple-choice questions that are based on the practicals.

Subject-wise Important Or Major Concepts

Physics: The names of the chapters are Force and Law of Motion, Work and Energy, Gravitation, Sound, and Motion. Physics has numerical problems that require the use of formulae to solve them. Note down all the formulae needed to solve the numerical problems on a sheet of paper. After finding the final answer, do not leave the answer in number. Verify whether the value should be mentioned with its units in CGS, MKS, or SI units. Before jumping off to solve the problem, have a clear understanding of the concepts and their applications.

Chemistry: Most students tend to like chemistry as it is easy to understand and the preparation is done within less time. The most important topic in this subject is the various models of the atom proposed by the different scientists. Know their application, advantages, or limitations for why it was disproven. Write all the formulae necessary to solve the numerical concept of moles. They may even ask about the valency of the element.

Biology: Biology is more of a theoretical subject. There are more diagrams and processes to learn than solving any numerical. This includes the difference between two topics such as kingdoms, drawing neat diagrams, or flowcharts of biogeochemical cycles. While studying these concepts, write them down on a sheet of paper and read them aloud. This helps in remembering things efficiently. Make a note of all the important or difficult terms to go through before the exam.

Tips To Score 90 In Class 9 Science

NCERT textbook: Instead of studying from the class notes, additional materials, or reference books, read the NCERT Textbook completely first. It involves all the topics in a simple language to understand in a better way. It also includes questions in between and at the end of the chapters to test the student’s knowledge of the topic or chapters. Solve previous year’s question papers: Most of the students forget to look through the previous year's question paper to get an idea of how the questions are formed. This allows you to get an idea about the marking scheme and the difficulty of the questions. Allow yourself to solve as many questions as possible to have a clear and better grasp of the subjects. This also helps you in answering the questions efficiently considering all the points in context.

Avoid silly mistakes: The only thing obstructing the student’s way to get full marks is the silly mistakes. The students tend to lose a lot of marks doing these silly errors. For example, copying the wrong data from the question paper, applying the wrong formulae, not verifying your answers, miscalculations, etc. The students must always remember to cross verify their answers after answering their papers. This allows the students to save their marks and they will not feel regret.

During the examination: During the examination, the first 15 minutes should be spent on reading the question paper thoroughly. You can note down the doubts to ask the invigilator. If you are unable to answer a question or stuck in the middle of a question, do not waste too much time trying to figure it out. Time is precious. Move on to the next question and if time permits, try answering the unanswered questions.

Do not stress: During preparation for the board exams, most of the students come under stress and pressure from their parents. Stressing over the examination or forcing yourself to study is not a wise thing to do. Instead, try meditation and exercising. This will keep your mind fresh and attentive. This also allows your brain to work faster and more efficiently. Do not stress over not understanding a certain concept. Find ways in which you can understand it better. Ask your friends or teachers to explain it to you. Watch online videos to understand better. Students understand better visually.
