Ship Loaded with Ukrainian Grain Released by Lebanese Authorities

The Lebanese authorities Wednesday allowed the release of a ship loaded with grain, days after it was detained by the Lebanese security services, after Ukrainian authorities said that the wheat and flour cargo was loaded "illegally" from areas of Ukraine that are under Russian control.

Lebanese media reported that Attorney-General of the Court of Cassation, Judge Ghassan Oweidat., had allowed the ship "Ludisia", which docked in the port of Tripoli in northern Lebanon last week, to sail after "the investigations failed to prove that it was carrying stolen flour and barley." He met with Lebanese President General Michel Aoun to discuss with him the issue of the entry of a Syrian ship to the port of Tripoli in northern Lebanon loaded with barley illegally sourced from the occupied Ukrainian lands. Kyiv accuses Moscow of stealing its crops in the areas it controls to be used for local consumption or to be sold abroad.
